Heritage
Young people as active creators and ambassadors of living heritage — connecting culture, creativity and active citizenship across Europe.
About the project
Connecting culture, creativity and citizenship
Youth Rhythms for Living Heritage positions young people as active creators and ambassadors of living heritage, using creativity, digital storytelling, arts and intercultural dialogue to connect cultural heritage with active citizenship, inclusion and youth work innovation.
We believe that cultural heritage is not a relic — it is alive in the communities, traditions and stories of young people across Europe. This project makes that heritage visible, transferable and celebrated.
From Türkiye
Traditional Motifs
Woven into carpets and textiles across centuries, the traditional motifs of Türkiye are a living language of meaning. Each symbol tells a story: the Ram’s Horn channels heroic strength; the Amulet wards off the evil eye; the Fetter binds families in devotion; Hands on Hips honours feminine power; Bereket celebrates the harvest; the Comb signals new beginnings; the Tree of Life unites past and future; and Love and Harmony captures two souls becoming one. These motifs are not mere decoration — they are heritage made visible.
Represents fertility, heroic power and masculinity. Often used to bring abundance to a home or courage to warriors.
Used to ward off the evil eye and protect against misfortune. Reflects a spiritual connection to nature and ancient shamanic heritage.
Symbolizes an unbreakable bond, loyalty and devotion. It is the origin of the tradition of tying engagement rings with a red ribbon.
Symbolizes rebirth and plenty. Usually depicted through wheat or grain patterns, it reflects hopes for prosperity.
Represents femininity, fertility and motherhood. It symbolizes the power of women and the continuity of the lineage.
Represents the desire for marriage, family and protection. It is a symbol of a new beginning and harmony in life.
Represents the past, present and future. It symbolizes the divine order and the unity of existence.
Represents the concept of two becoming one. A symbol of marriage, peace and happiness.
What we do
Three core activities
A progressive journey from intensive training through to local workshops and a major international festival, all centred on living heritage.
An intensive training course for 18 youth workers (6 per country) in heritage-based youth work, creative facilitation, digital storytelling and co-creation of the methodological toolkit.
12 workshops (4 per country), each welcoming 15 young people to explore, document and celebrate their living heritage through creative and digital methods. 180 young people reached in total.
A public international festival in Malta bringing together youth outputs, performances, storytelling and interactive installations — showcasing the project’s achievements to communities, cultural institutions and policy actors.
The consortium
Three countries, one shared mission
Our consortium brings together experienced youth organisations from Malta, Türkiye and Serbia, each contributing distinct expertise to the project.
CORE (Corporate Citizenship for Responsible Enterprises) leads project coordination, National Agency relations, quality and consistency across the consortium, and hosts the final Heritage Alive! Festival in Malta.
CORBIZ leads communication and dissemination across all channels, hosts the Living Heritage Bootcamp for Youth Workers in Istanbul, and drives digital dissemination campaigns throughout the project.
Poenta Association leads monitoring and evaluation, developed the Local Echoes workshop framework, coordinates local community engagement, and hosted the project’s kick-off meeting in Belgrade.
Project journey
A focused eleven-month journey
From launch in January 2026 to the Heritage Alive! Festival and final closure — each phase building on the last.
