The Project

Bâtir une citoyenneté active

GreenLink aims to strengthen citizen participation, volunteering and democratic engagement in Europe by connecting local communities, civil society organisations and young citizens around common priorities such as ecological transition, social inclusion and human rights.

The project promotes volunteering as an essential lever for solidarity and sustainability, by building a European network of cities and associations committed to inclusive and participatory local action.

GreenLink is not just a project for young people — it is built with them. Our mission is to transform civic engagement into a concrete reality for young Europeans, particularly JAMOs and marginalised communities.

Our Vision
We believe that European cohesion depends on the direct involvement of citizens on the ground — using mobilising themes such as environment, minority rights, and culture to create a bridge to sustainable democratic participation.
What We Stand For

Key objectives

🌍 01
Inclusion First

Placing young people with fewer opportunities — at least 50% of our beneficiaries — at the very heart of every action we take.

02
Long-term Commitment

Going beyond the one-off event through structured 6-month volunteering missions that create lasting impact for communities and volunteers alike.

🔗 03
Transnational Cooperation

Forging a strong network between municipalities and civil society across Europe, from France and Italy to Cyprus, Latvia, Hungary and beyond.

Methodology

Peer-to-peer in action

We use high-visibility events to promote European values through youth-led action. Our volunteers co-create experiences rooted in the real needs of their territories.

2026 · Milan
Winter Olympics

Workshops on peace and human rights, bringing together young Europeans through sport, dialogue, and civic reflection during one of the world’s most watched events.

2026 · Cannes
Film Festival

Creation of Citizens’ Assemblies for the Climate — youth voices amplified on the global cultural stage, driving conversation and commitment to action.

Ongoing · All Territories
Local Festivals & Community Events

From Cyprus to Latvia, from Malta to Germany — volunteers embedded in local festivals co-create events that reflect and serve the unique needs of each territory.

The Framework

European Civic Service

The European Civic Service (SCE) was created in response to the persistent exclusion of young people and unequal access to mobility opportunities. Many young people — especially those with fewer opportunities — face structural barriers to international experience, skills development, and civic participation.

The SCE fills this gap by combining long-term civic engagement with structured European mobility within an inclusive, supported framework. Its tandem model pairs local volunteers with European volunteers to foster peer learning, intercultural dialogue, and mutual support.

GreenLink contributes to skills development, professional integration, social inclusion, active citizenship, and a strengthened sense of European belonging — while serving local communities through hands-on civic projects.
